Eagle Release
This female Bald Eagle sadly ate poisoned horse meat last week. She was ill and unable to fly. She was found and reported to the Odawa Tribe who helped the DNR capture her, heal her, and rehab her via Wings of Wonder.
She was released at the Tribal pow wow grounds at the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians.
Something really cool happened just before she was released, two other bald eagles came and circled at the start of the ceremony. When she was released, she flew east to freedom.
This eagle, a female, is a big one, weighing 15 lbs and a wingspan of 6 ft.
It was indescribable.

Icy Weather and Deer
Some really crappy weather came through last night and this morning… Rain and freezing rain, even some thunder and lightning. So, needless to say, LTBB closed today, along with just about every school north of Houghton Lake.
While sitting here waiting far the call about work closing, I had the outside flood lights on and along came some Deer to feed at the bottom of the bird feeders.

Finally A Good Snow
Today took a nice walk around the house and down a trail that leads back into the woods. It was -15° this morning, but had warmed up to about -5° by walk time, with bright sunny deep blue skies.

Happy New Year - 2012
Happy New Year Everyone!
Yesterday headed up to the UP around Munising, MI. Needed a UP outing big time. Was nice to see a good amount of snow, though even up there the snow pack is way down from normal.
These are but a few of the photos I took with my new Pentax K5. A few shots I had to throw right out due to being way over exposed. I’m still learning the new camera.
